Writers Needed for
Government & Policy Media Organization

Seeking motivated writers to immediately contribute to an innovative, nonpartisan, government policy, news, and information service. This is a rare opportunity to get involved with the public launch of a new media company during its early stages. Job Description:
Writing assignments will center on the U.S. Government’s performance, including highlights and failures. Most assignments will be short but will build toward a portfolio of work.

Compensation & Time Commitment:
This position of Staff Writer is unpaid; a part-time commitment of 15-20 hrs/wk is expected, with the opportunity for more. Writers who demonstrate superior writing skills, analytical thinking, and motivation will be considered for hire in the very near future FT or on a fee-for-article basis.

To Apply::
Send resume, cover letter indicating desired time commitment, and 1-2 page writing sample to jobs@ohmygov.com.

About the Company:
In short...OhMyGov! aims to improve government by inspiring and cultivating change through the spread of information and ideas, the use of innovative online tools, and the strategic deployment of satire and wit.

The long-winded version:

OhMyGov! wants better government -- a more creative, more efficient, smarter government! So we set out to do the unthinkable: build a news and information site about government that was both interesting and fun to read. We offer an entertaining mix of "good gov" stories about public sector innovations and advances (yep, imagine that!) and comforting "bad gov" tales of government embarrassments and outrages. In short, we cover anything that makes you say OhMyGov!

We have grand ambitions to make a lasting impact on government and some well-laid plans to do it. But we're taking things one step at a time. Building a strong community of people who care about gov is the beginning. If you're reading this, chances are you'd qualify. So we invite you to read along, get our newsletter, tell a friend, and add your two cents to the conversation as an author. The way we see it, we've still got to pay big bucks to government whether we pay attention or not. Might as well keep informed, speak up, and have some fun with it!
