Georgetown Journalism
Moises Mendoza, SFS, (RCST), 2007

I came to Georgetown with dreams of being a politician or a diplomat. I graduated with dreams of being a journalist.

How? When I was a freshman, I started writing for The Hoya because I always thought reporters were cool, although I had never seriously considered a journalism career.

I took a few journalism classes, had a few internships and jettisoned my previous ambitions – for the time being, at least.

Somehow, I ended up at the San Antonio Express-News, where I'm having great fun as a reporter right now.

When you're in college, experiment with new things. Write for the newspaper, dance in a troupe, go out for the hula-hoop team.

You might find something to fall in love with – something new and different that you'd never thought you'd love.

I found that in journalism.
